This sensory tool is a super cute addition to your calm box, just squeeze the mug and watch an adorable pug pop out at the top. This is a great de-escalation technique for all pug lovers, a great tool to have to hand in the classroom.

How can this be used in an intervention:

Social skills game: Pass the pug in a mug around the group, whoever has the pug in a mug in their hand is allowed to speak, this is to practise taking turns and patience.

Whoever is holding the pug in a mug can ask the group a question, the pug in a mug goes to whoever would like to answer the question. You can have lots of giggles in the group as students will be keen to squeeze the mug whilst answering questions, revealing the pug which will result in lots of laughs, but also creating a bond between the group and supporting anxious students with the use of a sensory tool whilst talking.

How this can be used in the classroom:

Breathing Exercises- Breathe in while the pug is out and breathe out while the pug is in the mug, a fun way to regulate emotions.

Calm Box- Add the pug in a mug to your calm box or calm space as this will be sure to de-escalate a situation and bring students focus to the sensory tool allowing them to have some thinking space before responding to what is bothering them.

This tool is a medium sound level tool, it does make a sound when you squeeze the pug as it inflates with air to pop out, however it isn't very loud and we have rated it a medium on our sound level chart to help you identify the best tools for your classroom or interventions.
